Chicago Cubs – Top 5 Prospects for the 2010 Fantasy Baseball Season. Rankings are based on a Prospects potential to make a fantasy baseball impact during the 2010 season.
#1 – Starlin Castro – SS – Age: 20
Placing a 20 year old prospect here, is solely based on Castro’s future potential as the starting shortstop for the Cubs. And after an excellent Arizona Fall League showing to close out 2009, Castro’s future is seemingly getting closer and closer. If Ryan Theriot were to get injured, Castro would likely be the first choice to replace him in the Cubs lineup. Yet on an even brighter side for Castro, if the Cubs cannot figure out their second basemen issues, then odds are increasing that Ryan Theriot will move to second base and the Cubs will then go with Castro as their starting shortstop at some point during the 2010 season. With excellent speed and stolen base ability, Castro is definitely one shortstop that keeper league teams will want to keep an eye on. Expect Starlin Castro to begin the 2010 season in the minors, but if he gets off to a good start, a June call up could be in store.
